1. What was the project challenge that we addressed for our customer? 

Our customer is a global pharmaceutical research organization faced with the challenge of transforming their diverse set of scientific and business application platforms into a distributed global R&D cloud that provides the following: 

  • Both Global and Localized data governance, data privacy, and data security 
  • A highperformance end user experience 
  • Data ingestion and consolidation engines for real-time data cleansing and transformation to research information for science 
  • Unstructured to Structured data intelligence and correlation for worldwide reporting and analytics 
  • A repeatable operating platform to ensure scale & stability for worldwide operations and product engineering to continue advancements in their research

2. What was the project solution that we addressed for our customer?

Our Customer needed to transform the operating teams into a 24/7 shared services model that leveraged an Agile DevOps program. We developed a program that effectively combines both onshore and offshore teams with emphasis around application engineering and automation capabilities for all software builds, data ingestion, data cleansing, software testing and deployment strategies. 

Our team delivered a DevOps framework across the full cloud stack inclusive of: Database, Cloud platforms and Middleware engineering to migrate over 200 applications, 100 databases and over a petabyte of data. Our consultant(s) utilized the following software and system configuration tools throughout this project: Chef, Puppet, Kubernites, Docker, Jenkins, Linux, Apache, Tomcat, Fusion Middleware, Oracle Cloud transformation, Exadata, Virtualization and JIRA. 

 3. How did this project help our customer achieve ROI and improve business efficiencies to grow their business 

Our DevOps program helped reduce the operating budget required to run these applications by building autonomous programs that are self-managed and monitored by more cost-effective operators 24/7.  We can now emphasize our core budget back to science and engineering platforms to help our customer spend more time and money on developing cures for their patients.

1. What was the project challenge that we addressed for our customer?

Our client is a major pharmaceuticals corporation. They did not have a central DevOps team who could evaluate and recommend the right set of tools to be used, with individual project teams/groups try to set up their desired tools and serve their teams, with no clarity on the availability of infrastructure that could be shared across groups. 

A defined process framework detailing the different tenets in DevOps, including what activities and approach are needed to move to the desired state was not in place. Our customer was also lacking SME knowledge on the application, application stack and environment management flowing between Dev and Ops teams to arrive at a standardized process.

2. What was the solution our consultant(s) provided for the customer?

We created a DevOps roadmap that covered people, process and technology.  

We designed a unique operating model that leveraged an agile methodology to execute projects by focusing on tools, infrastructure, and automation. 

Orchestration of various DevOps practices (like build automation, continuous integration, QA automation, release, deployment automation) was accomplished by using a variety of tools and establishing the CI/CD pipelines for different technologies. We executed performance tests on daily builds 

We also provided one-click deployment for the production environment and a predictive monitoring solution for strategic decision-making.

3. How did this project help our customer achieve ROI and improve business efficiencies to grow their business?

By leveraging the DevOps solution, improved efficiency and helping the client leverage new business capabilities quickly. We delivered a flexible and agile solution platform that automated a number of manual processes reducing processing time and mitigating the risk of human errors. We reduced release cycle time by 50% and Operations cost has reduced by 40%.  These savings are being used to fund further transformation programs.
